ATLANTA, GA (OCT 20, 2009) - The 2009 winners of the recent AV awards were announced at a gala dinner attended by more than 500 people on October 9th, 2009, at the London Hilton on Park Lane in London, England. Digital Projection won the first award of the evening, taking home the prestigious “Digital Signage Product of the Year” award for its innovative fireproof, dustproof and waterproof XTP-HD 300 projector.
The fully IP65 certificated projector was originally designed to meet London Underground’s rigorous safety and quality requirements for a cross-track digital signage projection system. Conceptually, the XTP was designed to replace the existing paper advertising posters by creating a flexible and more attractive digital content delivery system.
The XTP-HD 300 is the world’s first purpose-designed and built digital signage system to offer world leading DLP® performance yet comply with the stringent London Underground safety requirements. Some of the many requirements which were accommodated via the XTP include no plastics allowed, plus the unit had to be fireproof, waterproof and dustproof.
More than 150 XTP displays are currently projecting bright digital images across the track onto a mounted screen on the curved tunnel wall opposite the platforms. The XTP –HD 300 provides enough light output for a 6m wide image, keystone correction and geometrical warp control to cope with the irregular shaped screen surfaces, offering HD resolution and an extremely long-life lamp system. Additionally, the XTP receives and distributes content by way of an integrated media server, plus a built-in IP camera for real time feedback. Over 150 XTP projectors have been installed across the network, supplying vibrant graphics to the 3.5 million people who use the underground system daily.
Frank Sheehan, AV Awards panellist and lead consultant/director at Visual Acuity, commented, “Digital Projection developed a class leading product (with the XTP).”
Now in its eleventh year, the AV Awards is organized by the UK based AV Magazine and independently judged by 15 panellists from a wide range of disciplines. It is considered to be one of the most esteemed AV Industry awards ceremonies in the United Kingdom.
