Digital Projection International (DPI), an Emmy® Award-winning manufacturer of high-performance projection systems, announces the launch of their new near zero latency warp, blend and network control solutions. The FUSION MD, Fusion 3D and FusionNet solutions provide the most advanced single and multi-channel warp and blend processing available for critical real-time applications needing low latency.
All three products can be employed with DPI’s iVision, dVision, TITAN and LIGHTNING projector lines, ensuring that no matter what level of projector performance or resolution an application requires, DPI can provide a fully integrated, FUSION-powered warp and blend solution with near zero video latency.
High quality signal resizing typically incurs a small penalty of video signal latency. Since delaying audio to match video is easily accomplished, video latency does not present a problem for the vast majority of applications. However, for real-time applications, such as IMAG and live televised events, where live presenters and the projected images may be visible at the same time, or for simulation, where on-screen imagery must immediately respond to trainee input, video latency must be as close to zero as possible.
DPI’s FUSION MD and FUSION 3D processors were created to specifically provide the most advanced multi channel warp and blend for these critical real-time applications. The advanced architecture of the FUSION processors results in video latency that equates to a just a few lines of single-video frame, amounting to near-zero latency. Considering the precise warp and blend being performed, the electronic transparency of the FUSION Processors is beyond compare.
From a system design perspective, one FUSION MD or FUSION 3D processor is dedicated to each projector in an application. The input source for each projector simply loops through the related FUSION processor, then into the projector. FusionNet, DPI’s new network control application, provides complete access to all adjustments for both the projectors and the FUSION processors, by way of a single window desktop application. Warp, blend and projector alignments, for as many channels as the application requires, are intuitive and precise.
Specifics on the two FUSION processors include:
1) FUSION MD (minimum delay): High bandwidth, near-zero latency processor providing warp and blend for sources with resolution up to WUXGA (1920 x 1200) at 60 Hz, and outputs to projectors with native resolution up to WUXGA as well. This makes the FUSION MD the perfect warp and blend solution to match nearly any of DPI’s projectors with native resolution of WUXGA or less. In order to assure the highest quality, there is no scaling in the FUSION MD processor, so optimally, the source input should match the native resolution of the projector. If the input resolution does not match the projector resolution, projector scaling can be applied after the required warp and blend has been achieved by the FUSION MD processor.
2) FUSION 3D: Extreme bandwidth, near-zero latency processor providing warp and blend for sources with resolution up to WQXGA (2560 x 1600) at 60 Hz, and outputs to projectors with native resolution up to WQXGA as well. This makes the FUSION 3D the perfect warp and blend solution to match DPI’s recently -launched dVision 35-WQXGA. Alternatively, the FUSION 3D can provide near-zero latency warp and blend for sources up to WUXGA resolution at 120 Hz, enabling it to support warp and blend for projectors being employed in the highest resolution high frame rate and 3D applications. This makes the FUSION 3D the perfect warp and blend solution to perform with any of DPI’s iVision, TITAN or LIGHTNING 3D displays. Like the FUSION MD processor, there is no scaling, so optimally, the source input to the Fusion 3D processor should match the native resolution of the projector. If the input resolution does not match the projector resolution, projector scaling can be applied after warp and blend has been achieved by the Fusion MD processor.
The FUSION suite delivers powerful, application enabling capabilities that are surprisingly easy to implement. FusionNet seamlessly integrates the operation of the FUSION processors and the DPI projectors they serve, thus ensuring large projector arrays can be expertly aligned on complex-geometry projection surfaces by technicians or projectionists with a simple understanding of the FusionNet application.
DPI will be demonstrating the new FUSION MD, Fusion 3D and FusionNet solutions from June 9 -11 at InfoComm 2010 (Booth #N939) in Las Vegas, Nevada.
