from April 19 th through May 1 st , 2005.
This
year, digital screenings account for 50% of all Tribeca Film Festival
entries, marking the vital role DPI's projectors will serve at the
event. The fleet of projectors will include DPI's powerful, native 2K

entries, including shorts, at over 1000 individual screenings. In
total, 16 Tribeca Film Festival theaters will be digitally equipped
with DPI's projectors.
“Tribeca
Film Festival demands the very best film and digital projection. 2004
was our first year with only DPI projection and it was by far the best
quality and performance of any year”, reported Mark Steele, technical
director of the Tribeca Film Festival. “For the past several years,
Boston Light and Sound has provided these projectors to the Festival,
in addition to 35mm projectors for premier red carpet venues. We now
insist on the DPI brand when sourcing our equipment for the Festival,
to assure we deliver flawless digital screenings for our audience and
filmmakers” added Steele. “We feel that this year will be even better
because of the inclusion of DPI's 2k resolution projectors, at several
of our key venues”.
“We
are honored that for the second year, the Tribeca Film Festival has
turned exclusively to DPI displays to s upport every digital screening
”, said Chuck Collins, special markets manager for Digital Projection,
Inc. “As an engineering and manufacturing company, we are certainly
proud of our products, but frankly, at events such as this, they are
meant to serve as a transparent medium, graced by the work of great
artists. We are humbled to be trusted with that role”.
Notable
films being screened digitally at the 2005 Tribeca Film Festival
include; Great New Wonderful, I Am a Sex Addict, Iowa, LA Riot
Spectacular, Through the Fire, Show Business and Rize. The DPI
projectors will be employed on a variety of screens, the largest two
being 43.5' wide, which are in twin 420-seat auditoriums in the Regal
Battery Park.
