BMW Utilise LIGHTNING Projectors at Frankfurt Motor Show
Eighteen edge-blended units by Digital Projection create dramatic effects on BMW Pavilion
Manchester
1st November 2001 - Once again Digital Projection and Media! AG prove
themselves as leading providers of innovative digital media technology
following presence at one of the world's largest automobile Shows the
IAA (Internationle Automobil-Ausstellung Personenkraftwagen) or
Frankfurt Motor Show 13 - 23 September 2001, which pulls in huge
numbers of exhibitors and visitors from Germany and abroad to the
exhibition halls beneath the Frankfurt trade fair tower.
Surrounding
the BMW pavilion with 18 Digital Projection LIGHTNING 15sx projectors
projecting onto nine screens each 8.5 metres wide, Media! AG's
technician team under the leadership of Heiko Groschupp, created an
amazing effect of one continuous screen 80 metres wide by utilising the
projectors and soft edge blending techniques, astounding in excess of
over 500,000 attendees with impressions of landscapes and other special
effects making the BMW pavilion one of the most effective and
integrated installations at the event.
The
highly acclaimed LIGHTNING 15sx projector features Digital Light
Processing™ technology from Texas Instruments, with 12,000 ANSI lumens
brightness and native resolution of 1280 x 1024. To make the most of
this technology, Digital Projection has added its own proprietary
optical, illumination and signal processing technologies. The result is
stunning large screen reproduction of all images, whether originating
in video or computer format. The unparalleled image clarity is
partially created by the products' displayable colour spectrum of over
one billion colours - nearly equivalent to the spectrum discernable by
the human eye.
