4MC INSTALLS DIGITAL PROJECTION DISPLAYS FOR ADVANCED POST-PRODUCTION FRONTIER
KENNESAW, GA, (September 28, 2000)
- Digital
Projection, Inc. (DPI) – a wholly owned subsidiary of Imax Corporation
(Nasdaq:IMAX; TSE:IMX) – today announced that the Four Media Company's
(4MC's) Burbank, CA location has recently installed ultra-bright DPI HIGHlite 5000gv displays. 4MC, a renowned full-service postproduction studio with offices worldwide, will be using the HIGHlite projectors to supplement their technologically advanced audio dubbing suites.
“Digital
Projection's technology and innovation have been an installation
mainstay for image-critical environments like postproduction
facilities,” said Erez Ram, owner of American Hi Definition, a
full-service AV production and integration company responsible for the
installation. “When 4MC elected to upgrade its
facility for high end post, Digital Projection's units were clearly the
only choice. As high definition cinematic and broadcast applications
become more prevalent, DPI's projectors will be even more important for
screening rooms, telecine suites and audio studios.”
One of the HIGHlite
5000gv's is housed in the newly constructed Studio E. This room has
been designed for large format television audio post-production. The
network interfaces all of the company's audio post stages and studios
to a common storage server, allowing ‘up to the minute' information to
be available at the touch of a fingertip. The Digital Projection HIGHlite 5000gv is used for playback to provide a premium visual reference during the post-production process.
The
Four Media Company's studio sound services combine the flexibility of
electronic sound technologies with film finish artistry. On 4MC's premiere film stage, Stage 1, the other HIGHlite 5000gv complements audio post-production efforts with visual clarity. Currently, this stage is used for the audio post-production of major motion pictures and dubs Star Trek "Voyager" every week.
“I
cannot begin to tell you how happy we are with the 5000gv's,” stated
Jim Albert, Film Sound Engineer for the Four Media Company. “Their
picture quality, resolution and stability are second to none. A lot of
the mixers chose the picture quality of the Digital Projection systems
over 35mm film.”
Digital
Projection's product line-up is characterized by superior resolution
and ultra-high-bright performance based on a 3-chip DLP™
light engine by Texas Instruments (TI's). As TI's longest standing
projection partner, the company specializes in developing imaging
components that are engineered specifically to enhance the performance
of the core DLP™ technology. DPI recently announced it formally
assumed the development and manufacture of its proprietary digital,
analog and video processing electronics from Cintel and it has a
long-standing relationship with Faroudja for the supply of decoding
technology.
About the HIGHlite 5000gv

5000gv is Digital Projection's brightest compact-chassis projector.
This display features XGA 1024 x 768 native resolution and source
