DIGITAL PROJECTION'S CHUCK COLLINS TO BE SWORN INTO GEORGIA'S FILM & VIDEOTAPE ADVISORY BOARD
KENNESAW, GA, (February 5, 2001)
- Digital
Projection, Inc. (DPI) today announced Chuck Collins, national market
development manager, has been accepted to the Georgia Film &
Videotape Advisory Board and will be sworn in by Governor Roy Barnes on
Tuesday, February 6, at the Georgia capital (1:00 p.m., room 203).
The Board oversees the film and videotape division of the Georgia
Department of Industry, Trade & Tourism (GDITT) and Collins intends
to participate on a sub-committee associated with new technology.
While working for Digital Projection, Inc., a Kennesaw-based
manufacturer of high performance projection systems, Collins has been
spearheading a developmental initiative to identify new applications
for the company's digital displays, which are capable of creating
film-like imagery on giant screens from high definition sources.
In
addition, Collins has been instrumental in developing contacts and
establishing sponsorships with prestigious North American film
festivals including the 2001Sundance Film Festival, the Atlanta Film
Festival and Toronto Film Festival where the company's projectors were
used to display hundreds of hours of digital film programming.
“Digital projection technology represents the future of cinema and I
hope to bring fresh ideas to the Board. Our technology has opened the
doors to entirely new business models and I believe similar
opportunities can be generated that will benefit the State of Georgia
and its commercial video and film industry,” said Collins.
Collins has been a featured speaker at many display-technology panel
discussions, industry trade exhibitions and projection training
events. He joined Digital Projection in 1997 as a regional market
development manager. Collins resides in Acworth with his wife, Kathryn.
