RENOWNED LOS ANGELES CHURCH INSTALLS PROJECTORS BY DIGITAL PROJECTION
KENNESAW, GA, (January 14, 2002)
- Digital
Projection Inc. (DPI) - an Emmy® Award-winning manufacturer of high
performanceprojection systems - today announced that two of its LIGHTNING 15sx projectors have been installed into the renowned West Angeles Church of God in Christ (WEST A), in Los Angeles.
The LIGHTNING 15sx's, which utilize 3-chip DLPä technology by Texas Instruments, front project across an impressive
5,000-seat cathedral, approximately 160 feet, onto two 24 ft. x 14-ft. Stewart film screens.
With a reported 20,000 active members - the largest congregation of any
denomination in the western United States - WEST A's objective during
the video integration was to complement the facility's amazing
architecture and custom interior design while "empowering the
congregants to more easily and actively participate in service thereby
allowing the free flow of worship.
This dynamic has paid dividends according to Terriel Foster, WEST A's
director of media. "Because of the clarity of images, the response
from the congregation to the projectors by Digital Projection is that
they love them. Comments include how much better informed they are…and
that they do feel so much closer to Bishop Blake (Pastor of West
Angeles) and whoever is ministering.
American Hi Definition (AHD), a Calabasas, Calif.-based, authorized dealer of DPI projectors, installed the LIGHTNING Displays after determining brightness and image fidelity were the church's primary communication goals.
"The requirement was to provide bright images on large screens in a high ambient lighting environment. The 12,000 ANSI lumen LIGHTNING Displays were essential in providing bright, clear images," said AHD's David Hurst.
The church utilizes the projectors for live camera feeds and presenter
image magnification, hymn text and graphic support. Advanced remote
control functions allow seamless, off-screen image and source
manipulation from a production room located on the first balcony.
"Every service held at the cathedral makes use of the screens,"
remarked Foster. "I would readily recommend these projectors to other
houses of worship. Simply, the impact on those in attendance is so
very tangible that we could never go back to a 'screenless'
environment: lives are changed."
