DIGITAL PROJECTION INTERNATIONAL TO INTRODUCE TWO NEW
DLP CINEMA™ TECHNOLOGY-ENABLED PROJECTORS AT SHOWEST 2003
Company to Showcase Fully-Integrated, Upgradeable Digital Cinema Projectors
MANCHESTER, UK and KENNESAW, GA, (February 24, 2003) - Digital
Projection International (DPI) will introduce two new DLP Cinema™
technology-enabled projectors, the iS10 and the cS15, at ShoWest 2003
(March 3 to 7, Las Vegas). The two projectors are the first in the
company's new product line-integrated series (iS) and console series
(cS)-and will be marketed under the Digital Projection Cinema brand.
The
iS10 is the world's first fully-integrated digital cinema projector,
combining DLP Cinema™ subsystem, illumination, power supply and optics
in one compact unit. SMPTE brightness compliant on screens up to
35-feet wide, the iS10 is designed to meet the requirements of more
than half of the world's cinema screens and is the ideal solution for
postproduction houses and screening rooms.
The
cS15 employs an innovative DLP Cinema™ head design that integrates with
industry standard lamp consoles and fits easily in any type of
commercial theater projection booth. It provides SMPTE brightness on
screens between 35 and 60-feet wide, and includes as standard an
automated three-position lens turret system. The cS15 is also
upgradeable to future brightness and resolution platforms, including
Texas Instruments' soon-to-be-introduced 2K resolution.
"The
iS10 and cS15 offer a wonderful combination of design and
functionality", said Peter Nicholas, director of cinema sales and
marketing, the Americas. "The compact is10 provides exceptional
flexibility in terms of location and portability. It has been
rigorously tested by Texas Instruments and meets their qualification
for full production standard.
"The
new cS15 console projector design has incorporated significant
improvements in the area of maintainability, and has the enormous
benefit of being directly upgradeable to higher resolution and
brightness performance as future platforms-like TI's 2K
resolution-become available. We've assured exhibitors can be confident
in this product for their first digital cinema installations."
Digital
Projection plans to showcase the iS10 and cS15 at NAB 2003 (April 5 to
10, Las Vegas) and will introduce additional iS projection systems as
well as cS models for larger screen sizes later in 2003.
The
Digital Projection Cinema brand is a product of the alliance between
NEC Viewtechnology Ltd. and Digital Projection International, two
recognized leaders in precision, large-screen digital imaging and
systems integration. The alliance was announced in October 2002
following NEC Viewtechnolgy's DLP Cinema™ licensing agreement with
Texas Instruments, and has created a union of two companies that
provide unmatched strength and capability in the design and manufacture
of digital cinema projection systems.
"The
iS10 and cS15 DLP Cinema projectors are a direct result of our historic
relationship with NEC," said Brian Critchley, DPI's chief executive and
managing director. "These products deliver comprehensive digital cinema
solutions for professionals who demand products of the highest
quality."
