DIGITAL PROJECTION ANNOUNCES NEW COST-EFFECTIVE 3-CHIP DLP™ AND SINGLE-CHIP DLP™ PROJECTION SYSTEMS
KENNESAW, GA, (April 2, 2003)
- Digital Projection Inc. (DPI), an Emmy® Award-winning manufacturer of
high-performance projection systems, announced the launch of two new
cost-effective projection displays, the MERCURY and iVision series
projectors. DPI will exhibit the MERCURY 5000gv and iVision sx for the
first time at NAB 2003 (April 7 to 10, Las Vegas).
DPI's new MERCURY projection systems incorporate 3-chip Dark Metal DLP™
technology by Texas Instruments and deliver brightness of 5,000 ANSI
lumens and a contrast ratio of 800:1 through XGA native resolution
DMD's. In addition, the MERCURY series' greyscale depth of 14-bits per
DMD™ creates more than four trillion on-screen colors. This renders the
unit ideal for immersive visualization, command and control, military
simulation, small port cinema, elite home cinema and numerous staging
and broadcast applications.
Weighing only 6.5 pounds, the single-chip DLP™ iVision sx delivers
3,000 ANSI lumens, SXGA native resolution and 1000:1 contrast ratio, in
a ultra-compact and portable chassis. The iVision series, DPI's first
single-chip projection systems, are ideal for small-to-medium venue
applications such as business, training and education, small port
cinema, retail, entertainment, religious, sports book and trade show
applications.
With the introduction of the iVision and MERCURY projection systems,
DPI now offers a DLP™ technology-enabled display to support every
application-and price point.
"Our new MECURY and iVision displays are great complements to our
outstanding lineup of high-performance HIGHlite, THUNDER and LIGHTNING
series projection systems," said Mike Levi, president of Digital
Projection, Inc. "For the first time since we entered the projection
display market in 1997, any small, medium or large-venue application,
in any vertical market, can be served by a precision display from
Digital Projection."
Future iVision and MERCURY models that DPI plans to launch this
year include the MERCURY HD and iVision HD. Specifically engineered as
ideal DLP™ solutions for home cinema applications, the MERCURY HD will
be positioned as one of DPI's flagship home cinema displays, while the
iVision HD is perfect for mid-level home entertainment.
