Gearing Up for Indy with DP's Biggest Booth EVER!

Gearing Up for CEDIA 2011

CEDIA 2011 is less than 6 weeks away! This major trade event for home systems integration moves back to Indianapolis for 2011, and all indicators point to possible record-breaking attendance.

With such a promising show on the horizon, the DP team is deep in planning and preparations to present the very best projection solutions for home entertainment. Our exhibit at CEDIA 2011 will represent the biggest DP booth ever staged at this event. Encompassing some 3,600 square feet, more than 13 DP models will be presented in 4 distinct galleries and theaters within our booth. DP will even feature four powerfully immersive 3D solutions, along with our new and truly revolutionary "Scope 1080p" display.

Even more exciting, DP's CEDIA presentation will introduce 5 brand new models, spanning our single-chip, 3-chip and 3D DLP product lines. The range of these powerful new displays addresses nearly every venue, scale and budget for exclusive home entertainment. For certain, our CEDIA new product introductions will be thrilling news for DP dealers and entertainment customers.

We still have a lot of details to worth through, and of course, there is the small matter of staging 3 semi's full of equipment to construct our stunning, multi-venue exhibit. No worries though – we love showing the amazing performance of our home entertainment displays – the finest in the world - and nothing great happens without a little hard work.

We will share all the details on our new products just prior to the show. We know you will be impressed. See you in Indy in Booth #4340!

Definitive Celebrates 19th Year of Home Theater Experience

Definitive's 19th Annual Home Theater Experience Show

Definitive, a home technology design and installation firm with a long-standing history in the Pacific NW, recently held their 19th Annual Home Theater Experience event. Over 420 attendees visited the audio and video demonstrations taking place over a two-day period. Twenty two manufacturers participated in eight different rooms, each conducting 30 minute demonstration sessions throughout both days.

Digital Projection and Meridian shared a room at the Home Theater Experience, as guests had the opportunity to experience a home theater with AV valued at approximately $100,000. Our $24K 3-chip HIGHlite Cine 260 supplied the stunning imagery in this demonstration area. In a separate room, DP's sub-$12K M-Vision Cine 400 enlisted all 5,500 lumens to display gorgeous imagery from selected blu-ray movies.

Cantara Design Group, California

Cantara Design Group Uses Digital Projection
Cantara Design Group, a leading provider of sophisticated entertainment, communication and control systems for landmark estates, luxury yachts, and leading enterprises in Southern California, recently completed an elaborate home theater that boasts inspired designer touches as well as a stellar image.

The theater is located on the home's lower level, adjacent to the wine cellar and wine dining room. A Digital Projection M-Vision Cine 260 projector works in conjunction with a Stewart Studiotec 130, 110" diagonal Luxus Delux Microperf screen.

Cantara Design Group Uses Digital Projection
Cantara brought in the premier Southern California Theater designer – Slayman Design & Associates to design the interiors. The inspiration for the room is the Byrd Theater in Richmond, Virginia, which the client found during their research. The room is rather small, while the Byrd Theater was a huge movie palace, so Slayman's talents were needed in interpreting the design cues to achieve a space that had the right scale.

Cantara Design Group Uses Digital Projection
The room is getting constant use by the family and friends. Jason Voorhees, President of Cantara Design Group, remarked, "They're totally overwhelmed by the Video and Audio performance. The client has said he had no idea the system would be that immersive and exciting."

Cantara Design Group Uses Digital Projection
When asked why a DP precision projector was chosen for the theater, Voorhees commented, "We're always proud to offer Digital Projection projectors – from the smaller screen M-Vision all the way up to the Titan Reference 3D." Voorhees continued, "DPI provides us with the product line to deliver true performance to our clients."

Congratulations to Cantara Design Group for wrapping this very distinct, regal home theater.

Tech Tip

Basic System Troubleshooting Tips

When it comes to presentation systems, oftentimes a system-related problem will manifest itself onscreen. This can cause a confusing situation. It is natural for a non-technical person to blame the projector, as in most cases, the projector is the last link in a system and will display whatever the source is providing - regardless of whether there is something wrong with the signal or not.

The test patterns that are built in to all DP projectors are great assets to help diagnose imaging issues. To ascertain whether you are experiencing a projector issue or system issue, start by disconnecting all sources to the projector, and call up a test pattern.

If the test pattern displays properly, most likely the problem is source or cable related. If there is a problem displaying the test pattern properly, then there may be a problem with the projector. In either case, our dealers are always welcome to contact our tech and application support teams for additional information and advice.

There are multiple ways to contact tech support. 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday Phone: (Toll Free) 855-374-7761. Dealers needing emergency technical support after normal working can use our after hours tech support hotline - (770) 420-1354.
