Digital Projection at CEDIA 2010

This year's CEDIA Expo marked the largest CEDIA show undertaking in Digital Projection's history, and proved to be yet another remarkable stride forward. Years ahead of the competition in developing 3D, LED and high-lumen precision projectors, DP continued to expand the world's most dynamic projector product line in all directions. The new high-value M-Vision Cine 400-3D marked a massive milestone in bringing large-screen active 3D to the masses. Further, products such as the new M-Vision Cine 230 introduced DP's renowned displays to a new dealer base as the first DP projector below $7,000 MSRP. All this and more are covered in detail below.

Thank you to everyone who spent time with us in Atlanta. Your interest and loyalty continue to motivate us, and we have you to thank for our success.

Let us know how we can assist you. And thank you again for making CEDIA Expo 2010 a historic event for Digital Projection International.

Digital Projection at CEDIA Expo 2010

Our show exhibit consisted of one large-scale 3D theater plus five separate gallery theaters showing single-and 3-chip home theater solutions. Visible from far beyond the booth, show attendees were welcomed in the “Meet and Greet” area by a massive curved 40' DNP SuperNova Infinity screen. Five TITAN 1080 700 projectors, seamlessly edge-blended to display HD concert videos and home theater photos featuring DP's precision displays, lit the screen for a truly larger-than-life spectacle. DP's new Fusion 3D processor, capable of almost zero latency warp and blend for high resolution and 3D displays, performed the seamless blend.

Accenting the front of the 60' x 50' space were single and 3-chip static displays from our home cinema line, as well as the updated and newly relaunched Dimension 3D media server.

Shown primarily to guage interest from our dealers, an exceptional short-throw projector prototype was also presented near the front of the booth on a Stewart StudioTek 130 screen. The 1080p, LED-lit DLP projector is expected to list for approximately $10,000 and is designed for extremely short-throw installations where space is of maximum concern. This projector can be front or rear mounted, and brings a new degree of installation flexibility to gaming environments and dedicated theaters alike.

The first dedicated theater within the booth displayed our brand-new M-Vision Cine 400-3D, a high-brightness yet affordably priced single-chip 3D projector. As lumens are essential for any 3D venue, the M-Vision produces bright yet color-accurate imagery with 5,500 lumens and a beautiful 2000:1 contrast ratio. Priced below $20,000 MSRP, the M-Vision Cine 400-3D frees home cinema enthusiasts from the confines of flat-panel 3D at a price point previously unavailable to the market.

Near the front of the booth was another dedicated theater, featuring DP's renowned iVision 20-1080p. This small and streamlined single-chip display was showcased on a 6' Stewart Screen, and wowed attendees with its color, dynamic range and incredibly small chassis. Worth mentioning, the pricing of the iVision 20 series has just been reduced, so this elegant display now presents amazing entertainment at an even more amazing value.

As DP is synonymous with the most immersive, inspiring 3D entertainment imaginable for both residential and commercial venues, we couldn't pass up the chance to introduce even more CEDIA industry members to single-projector, full resolution 3D. Through a licensing partnership with Disney, we showed new 3D footage from Disney and Pixar in a dedicated theater, courtesy of the award-winning TITAN Reference 1080p-3D.

Winner of the 2009 CEDIA "Best New Product" award, the TITAN Reference 1080p-3D was concurrently featured in CEDIA's Future Tech Pavilion, major show exhibitor booths, the Hard Rock Cafe as a gaming projector and within the DP booth on a massive 16' Stewart Cinecurve screen. With over three years of experience manufacturing, distributing and supporting high-brightness 3D projectors, DP's 3D product line continues to dominate large-screen 3D projection for the home.

DP has always been synonymous with the highest-performing projectors available, and this year's Expo saw DP introduce a precision display at an unprecedented price-point. The new M-Vision Cine 230, capable of 1,000 lumens and over 3000:1 contrast, will introduce the reliability and performance of the DP brand to a massive array of new dealers and enthusiasts.

With an MSRP below $7,000, this brand new member of the M-Vision family represents our entry level display. Rest assured, however, that there is nothing entry level about the performance: Native 1080p Dark Chip resolution, 1000 lumens, vertical and horizontal lens shift, Brilliant Color and Dynamic Black, all encased in our beautiful and amazingly quiet Cine cabinet. This projector was one of the most often-discussed displays of the show, due to the stellar image quality.

Quickly becoming one of DP's most popular home theater projectors, the HIGHlite Cine 260 HC, DP's entry-level 3-Chip DLP display, was also featured in its own theater. The HIGHlite's color performance, contrast and brightness were described as "superb" time and time again by both dealers and end-users. The HIGHlite delivers extraordinary DP 3-chip entertainment, at a price that accommodates more budgets than ever before.

Digital Projection at CEDIA Expo 2010

One of DP's two finalists for this year's CEDIA "Best New Product" awards, the M-Vision Cine LED was revealed to attendees in the final dedicated theater of the booth. Featuring DP's extraordinary LIFETIME ILLUMINATION via DP's deployment of a remarkable LED lamp system, the illumination module within the M-Vision LED operates for 60,000+ hours. Meaning, one of the world's most high-perfonmance projectors available today is also virtually maintenance-free as no lamp replacements are needed.

Additionally, the M-Vision Cine LED's distinct Red, Green and Blue LEDs eliminate the need for a color wheel (eliminating color wheel artifacts) while also producing a color gamut that is similar, if not broader than, our exceptional 3-chip models.

One final note of success from the show floor. DP is pleased to announce that over 70% of the 2010 CEDIA Expo Audience Choice and Designer Awards went to active DP home cinema dealers! Products like DP's TITAN Reference 1080p-3D featured in the best home venues throughout 2009 and 2010, and we send a hearty thanks to the dealers that chose our displays for their award-winning projects. Congratulations to Faisal, and thank you to everyone that came out to the biggest party in Digital Projection's history.

A special thank-you to our show partners that chose DP's precision displays for their booths. Stewart Filmscreen, Crestron, DNP screens, Panamorph and VuTec had DP projectors delivering a wide array of gorgeous imagery in their booths.
