Enabling Applications: The Extensive Capabilities of DP’s FUSION Warp and Blend Processors

In our April 2010 newsletter we introduced you to our FUSION platform. DP’s FUSION MD and FUSION 3D processors were created to specifically provide the most advanced multi-channel warp and blend for critical real-time applications. Combined with DP’s FusionNet software, large projector arrays can be expertly aligned on complex-geometry projection surfaces by technicians or projectionists with a simple understanding of the FusionNet application. Today we are proud to announce several new enhancements to the FUSION product line.

Key features in the FUSION Suite include the ability to manage an unlimited number of projectors from a single site via the FusionNet software over standard TCP/IP or RS232 control.  FusionNet users can also take advantage of our Advance Blend Zone features as well as enhanced Black Level Matching. Most notably, FusionNet now offers real-time Warping Calibration, a truly invaluable tool which allows you to view your image adjustments as you perform your warp and blend modifications.

Here are some specifics on the two FUSION processors:

FUSION MD (minimum delay):
This high bandwidth, near-zero latency processor provides warp and blend for sources with resolution up to WUXGA (1920 x 1200) at 60 Hz, and outputs to projectors with native resolution up to WUXGA as well. This makes the FUSION MD the perfect warp and blend solution to match nearly any of DP’s projectors with native resolution of WUXGA or less. Although this system provides precise warp control, there is no scaling in the FUSION MD processor, so optimally, the source input should match the native resolution of the projector. If the input resolution does not match the projector resolution, scaling can be applied within the projector, after the required warp and blend has been achieved by the FUSION MD processor.

FUSION 3D: This extreme bandwidth, near-zero latency processor provides warp and blend for sources with resolution up to WQXGA (2560 x 1600) at 60 Hz, and outputs to projectors with native resolution up to WQXGA as well. This makes the FUSION 3D the perfect warp and blend solution to match our dVision 35-WQXGA projectors. Alternatively, the FUSION 3D can provide near-zero latency warp and blend for sources up to WUXGA at 120 Hz, providing to the ability to support warp and blend for projectors being employed in the highest resolution 3D applications. This makes the FUSION 3D the perfect warp and blend solution to match with any of DP’s iVision, M-Vision, TITAN or LIGHTNING 3D displays! Like the FUSION MD processor, there is no scaling, so optimally, the source input to the Fusion MD processor should match the native resolution of the projector. If the input resolution does not match the projector resolution, scaling can be applied in the projector after warp and blend has been achieved by the Fusion MD processor.

These are really powerful, application enabling products, but they are surprisingly easy to put to work. FusionNet seamlessly integrates the operation of the FUSION processors and the DP projectors they serve, thus ensuring large projector arrays can be expertly aligned on complex-geometry projection surfaces by technicians or projectionists with a simple understanding of the FusionNet application.

FUSION MD and 3D processors, and DP’s new FusionNet application, can be employed with all of DP’s iVision, dVision, M-Vision TITAN and LIGHTNING products, so no matter what level of projector performance or resolution your application requires, DP can provide a fully integrated, FUSION-powered warp and blend solution... with near zero latency.
