Proper Environmental Cooling for TITAN Projection Systems
Wednesday, March 30, 2011 (1231 reads)

In most AV systems, Digital Projection’s displays mounted in an open space require no special venting or cooling, as long as the ambient room temperature is within normal ranges (65°F - 85°F).

However, some applications require the projector be enclosed, to either preserve the architectural integrity of the venue, or to reduce ambient room noise to an absolute minimum. In cases where a projector is enclosed, it is extremely important to properly ventilate the enclosure.

Last weekend, my family and I attended our 3rd 3D film is so many months - Alice in Wonderland. This review will not focus on the performance of the actors, or the entertainment value of the story, or even the success or failure of the film-makers application of 3D technology. Rather, this review will focus on the implementation of 3D technology within the commercial cinema auditorium where we watched the film.

In short, the venue was not up to the task of properly presenting 3D entertainment due to two major problems.

CE Pro Q&A with Mike Levi, President of Digital Projection Inc. and Robert Archer, senior editor at CE Pro magazine
Monday, February 01, 2010 (1302 reads)

Can you briefly explain what 3D video is and how it differs from the traditional video that we're use to seeing in our homes?
3D Video provides an immersive viewing experience, whereby the image content is actually perceived by the viewer as a true 3 dimensional image. 3D video systems can be designed using a variety of technological approaches, but in all cases, the actual content to be displayed is captured (or rendered) and subsequently displayed in two synchronous perspectives – one replicating what our left eyes would see, and the other replicating what our right eyes would see, if the subject material was actually being viewed in the real world. Just as when viewing the real world, the two slightly different left eye and right eye perspectives, are integrated by our brains to create depth perception.

Lens Shift and the Projector Sweet Spot

Lens shift, or image offset, can be defined as the ability to shift a projected image vertically or horizontally in order to accommodate specific installation challenges. In most installations, lens shift can be used to optimize image geometry and scaling performance by optically landing the image on the screen without having to tilt the projector and employ keystone correction. It can also be used to position the projector such that the average viewer is placed in the illumination sweet spot – an especially important consideration in rear screen and high gain front screen applications.

Auto Shut-off For TITAN and LIGHTNING 1080p & SX+ Projectors

Some of our customers have asked if the TITAN and LIGHTNING 1080p and SX+ models can be equipped to automatically turn off if no source signal is present for an extended period of time. Although that capability does not inherently exist within the product’s user interface, it can be created via the RS-232 interface using any control system that is able to recognize responses from the projector. The key is for the control system to be programmed to occasionally ask the projector what source it is receiving.
