InfoComm 2012 Approaches!

Digital Projection's InfoComm Teaser

With InfoComm now less than a month away, the DP team is in the thick of preparations. To celebrate our 15 year anniversary, we have an all-new exhibit for 2012, and it will be packed with the latest in class leading projection technology. With new models in the E-Vision, M-Vision, dVision, HIGHlite, TITAN & LIGHTINIG series all being launched, there will be a lot of important capabilities to check out in the DP booth.

What to expect: An amazing, 60' wide wall of color, light and mega-pixels, demonstrating the imaging prowess of 14 select models from DP's extensive state-of-the-art product line. Projectors at every performance level and price point will be on display, working in unison to present an entertaining, immersive and celebratory show.

What not to expect: A boring presentation of run-of-the-mill projectors in a pitch dark cave. Given the vast majority of our Pro AV customers employ projectors in ambient light venues, we are pulling all of the walls off of our booth – rendering a visual spectacle unlike anything any projection company has done before.

In addition to our amazing new products, presented in an outrageously open environment, DP will be offering some outstanding InfoComm show specials – so if you have projects in the works, seeing DP at InfoComm will present a feast for your eyes, as well as a serious deal making opportunity.

CEA Lineshows in NYC – Don't Miss this Consumer Electronics Expo in June

TCEA Lineshows in NYC – Don't Miss this Consumer Electronics Expo in June

DP will display the pinnacle of large-screen home entertainment at the upcoming CEA Lineshows in New York City. Showcasing both well-established and unprecedented solutions, we will feature two distinct precision displays from June 27 - 29, 2012.

The first will be the award-winning TITAN Reference 1080p-3D, the standard for the world's elite home cinemas. Insisted upon in regal personal screening rooms and large-screen home entertainment venues, the TITAN Reference 1080p-3D introduced precision 3D to the world nearly two years ago, and continues to set the benchmark for what truly immersive home entertainment should be.

The second projector we will present is the dVision Scope 1080p, the premier Home Cinema solution for anamorphic lens-free, full resolution, constant height projection. The 2560 x 1080 native resolution dVision Scope 1080p presents an aspect-ratio morphing projection solution, delivering OVER 2.75 million PIXELS of imagery. Home Cinema enthusiasts can FINALLY eliminate the black letterbox bars and see the COMPLETE image at the full height of their screen, without an external anamorphic lens. Proud Scope owners worldwide have rediscovered their favorite films, experiencing detail and subtle characteristics that were hard to appreciate on lesser displays.

Seeing is believing when it comes to the stellar imagery produced by the TITAN Reference 1080p 3D and the dVision Scope 1080p, so make sure to visit Digital Projection and our respected industry partners at the upcoming CEA Lineshow in NYC.

PRIVATE HOME THEATER
DALLAS EXTREME, TEXAS

The Radio City Music Hall's Christmas Spectacular Relies on Digital Projection

Long-time DP dealer and TITAN projector specialist Dallas Extreme recently completed a lush home theater that features a 3-chip TITAN Reference 1080p projector. Working in conjunction with a 140" Stewart Firehawk microperf screen, this 25' x 22' home theater was built almost exclusively to display the client's Kaleidescape media server content.

Given that display performance was at the top of the client's priorities, Dallas Extreme was able to demonstrate a TITAN projector before a decision was made. The client immediately decided that the TITAN was the right solution, and Dallas Extreme commenced in building out a dedicated room, from fabrication to interior design, that became the theater. Dallas Extreme is a full-service integrator with deep construction experience, and handled the painting, electrical, sheetrock, custom woodwork, carpet and custom HVAC work in-house.

"The clients are absolutely in love with the theater," stated Brandon Haggard of Dallas Extreme. "The client was gone for two weeks, and returned to experience the room completely finished and fully operational. They love the space so much, they once moved an inflatable mattress into the theater in order to have movie night for the kids."

Commenting on his experiences working with Digital Projection, Brandon Haggard had the following to say: "DP is a very professional, high performance company that is focused on delivering a luxury experience. My clients insist on the sort of quality that comes from the DP brand. Additionally, my regional manager Eric Lardner is phenomenal. DP feels like a very small, personal company when you're a client, and I feel that they only work for me when I need something."

Congratulations to Dallas Extreme on delivering another beautiful theater!

TECHNOLOGIES FOR MULTIPLE PROJECTOR DISPLAY SYSTEM CHALLENGES

TECHNOLOGIES FOR MULTIPLE PROJECTOR DISPLAY SYSTEM CHALLENGES

DP is proud to present the following paper, written by Phil Laney, director of simulation and visualization, Digital Projection Inc. This paper was recently presented at the 2012 MARSIM Conference, held in Singapore in late April, 2012, in cooperation with the Singapore Maritime Academy.

Abstract: A discussion of the technical challenges of designing, installing, and maintaining a projector display system for the out the window view of a simulator for a ship bridge, side bridge, and vessels such as RHIBs, Anchor Handling, and so forth. This paper does not address system complexity due to niche display system needs like night vision goggle stimulation, motion blur reduction, low latency and so forth.

The basic building blocks of a simulator's projection display system, the LCD, LCoS, and DLP® technology based projectors, are examined for issues related to mounting, geometry, and edge blending. The projector technologies are then analyzed for advantages and disadvantages for long term use in a high use simulator environment.

Once a projection system is installed, the upkeep and maintenance of that projector system for linearity, color, intensity, and gray scale becomes a complex task. Manual alignment of a multiple projector system and new technologies, such as automated alignment systems are addressed.

The paper concludes with a discussion of new display technologies being installed in the simulation market that either simplify many maintenance tasks or reduce costs due to new technologies recently introduced or are within reach in the next few years.
