LCD vs. DLP

DPI Technology - superior performance and operational life:

The top photo is a screen shot of an image created by Digital Projection's HIGHlite 120000HD. The unit is being considered as an upgrade to the current projector employed by the customer. Note the broad color depth and gamut - obvious even in this simple digital photo.

The bottom photo is a screen shot of the image created by the LCD projector currently owned by the customer. The customer reports the unit has been in operation for about 2 years and is used about 8 hours a day. Note the lack of color depth and gamut, specifically, the degradation of red and blue spectral output. This is a common performance complaint we hear from customers operating LCD projectors in moderate to high use applications. Over the years, we have upgraded many customers from LCD to DLP.

To be fair, the demo HL12000Dsx+ projector operating in the top photo is a recent production unit, so it does not have as many run hours as the LCD unit in the bottom photo. However, being a 100% digital technology, DLP is well known for it's consistent long-term performance with respect to contrast, color uniformity, color depth, gamut and spectral output. Digital Projection's many years of experience developing, selling and maintaining the world's best DLP systems gives us absolute credibility and confidence to state, properly maintained and aligned DLP projectors will present the same imaging qualities, day after day, year after year, show after show.
