Announcing...the DP University Training Program

As Digital Projection continues to grow on a worldwide scale, we've had a "bucket list" of company goals that we've actively been taking steps to accomplish. One of the most important goals on this list concerns accessible and effective product training for our dealers, Reps and regional managers. We have good news: with the introduction of the DP University Training Program, we are ready to begin an ambitious training schedule through 2011 and beyond.

You may have noticed an article in the March newsletter (click here to read the article) that announced Ken Eagle's move from Midwest Regional Manager to Education and Training Manager. This move, combined with our massive US headquarters expansion, means the time is right to deliver the in-depth product training that our dealers have been requesting.

Our first class will be exclusively for DP's Home Cinema Reps and regional managers, and will be held on July 27 and 28. Attendees will leave this event with a solid understanding of key products in the DP line, as well as a thorough understanding of where the company is currently and where we plan to go in the coming years.

DP's Home Cinema Reps will receive direct correspondence with deeper details on the upcoming training, but can RSVP immediately by contacting Ken via In a year with many firsts already announced and many more to come, 2011 is shaping up to be a monumental year for Digital Projection and our extended family.

Audio Video Interiors, Ohio

Audio Video Interiors Uses Digital Projection
Audio Video Interiors, a leading integrator of electronic life-style enhancing systems in Ohio and surrounding areas, recently completed a theater that, according to the client, needed to deliver "the biggest and best picture possible, a dynamic sound system to match, and the ability to view multiple screens simultaneously."

Audio Video Interiors Uses Digital Projection
Pairing a 3-chip DLP TITAN Reference 1080p precision display with a 14' wide Stewart CineCurve masking screen accomplished the first priority to stunning effect. Additionally, the massive image allows for clean sight lines and comfortable viewing angles from each of the 18 CinemaTech theater chairs.

Audio Video Interiors Uses Digital Projection
As an avid sports fan, the client was also interested in being able to view multiple games simultaneously, but did not want that to inhibit the size of the primary screen. The Crestron DVPHD multi-window video processor provides the capability to watch up to eight sources at once and, with the processor's built-in annotation, even allows the client to do his own telestration via the 17" touch panel!

The asymmetrical room was challenging because it made accurate sound reproduction difficult to predict. The JBL Synthesis System delivered the perfect audio solution for this unique space. A custom JBL Synthesis system utilizes K2S9900 floor standing loudspeakers as front channels. Two 18" subwoofers and four 10" in-wall subwoofers were strategically placed for optimum low end performance and a Mark Levinson Electronics Ensemble administers nearly 7000 watts of audiophile power to the speaker package.

Special additions to the theater include a Kaleidescape system with 10TB of storage serves up selections from the client's movie or music collection at will. Additionally, an iSky LED driven star-field ceiling creates yet another "WOW" factor using 100 individual fiber optic panels to create the night sky above this commanding space.

Tech Tip

In the early days of Digital Projection's growth, a tagline was penned to represent the company's ambition: Precision Displays for Every Venue. Fast forward to today, and our robust product range demonstrates that DP's founders could not have crafted a more appropriate brand statement.

Considering the extensive range of capabilities, performance and price points offered by our current product line, we created a simple reference guide to assist integrators and industry partners to quickly identify the DP precision displays that best suit their applications. Using two key data points – Ft. Lamberts by image size and price-point, the following table suggests the DP projectors that best match application screen size and budget needs.

The majority of DP's product platforms are available in a variety of resolutions, so this table can be used to select the platform(s) that align with the broader requirements of screen size and budget, knowing that a specific native resolution can be selected to further refine for the application.
